Greetings All !!
I'm in the market for a Framing Nailer, and the purchase of the H.F. "Pierce" model was already "Seriously in Doubt"in my mind, and now.... Now (at my local store) they just RAISED the price over 10%, (from $180 to $200), on these Pierce framing nailers !! They ALSO raised the prices on the Banks line by 5%!
The H.F. pricing on the Pierce units was already "Non-Competitive"imo (@ $180), as a highly-rated and LIGHTER Metabo/HPT unit could be had at the same price via Amazon, AND it comes with a standard 5 Year Warranty!
At my local Home Depot, you can get the Highly Rated Ridgid Framing Nailer for the same (new) price ($200) of the Pierce unit, and it comes STANDARD with a 3 years warranty, and with registration of your tool, the Ridgid LSA (Lifetime Service Agreement) kicks in.
Lastly, the Milwaukee unit (again, at Home Depot), can be had for just $230, is considered by many to be one of, if not the, best framing nailer out there, and it comes standard with a 7 Year Warranty!
If purchased from Home Depot, BOTH the Ridgid and/or the Milwaukee have a 6 MONTHS RETURNABLE period, which is TWICE the 90 day warranty of the H.F. "Pierce" unit.
Adding the 2 year warranty to the Pierce, it will be ABOVE the cost of EVERY one of the above listed Framing Nailers, and it still won't have the same class of warranty as any of the above!
The ONLY reason I can personally see for going with the Pierce (assuming you're adding the warranty) is that you can do an immediate exchange, but for me, its just not worth it, especially as the popularity and reputation of the 3 mentioned competitors is stellar, AND rebuild kits can be had!! You also have to "factor in" the cost of "renewing" your warranty coverage every 2 years, so again, the ONLY reason I can see going with H.F. is the immediate exchange benefit.
I'd appreciate any feedback, comments, opposing opinions, etc that the forum members might have, (and/or observations re other Price Increases), but for me, H.F. just lost ANY chance whatsoever of me considering anything in the Pierce family of nailers..
Thanks All !!
