The Bauer planer is pretty decent. A little too much snipe for my taste, but very functional. Harbor Freight seem to have trouble getting any Hercules power tools released. It'd be cool if they could outdo Dewalt with a four column lunchbox planer in Hercules blue, but I wouldn't hold my breath. For a while now I've been thinking it was high time for some more freestanding power tools: a hybrid table saw, a 6 inch jointer, even a freestanding planer. The reality is that any big tool HF brings out is probably going to be branded Central Machinery, and HF doesn't give a rat's behind about what we think.
