So, following Da Bear's YouTube flashlight roundup, I went to my local HF to check out the Quantum 534 lumen light. Mostly I was interested if it was a forward or reverse clicky switch (bad news: it's reverse), but the price was right even if it didn't get a nod from me for my police academy students as a cost effective light. I left a 3-star review on harborfreight.com expressing my disappointment in the switch and a few other flaws in the hopes no one thinks of this light as actually superior to a 3-cell Maglite.
I went back a few weeks later to look up some of the listed specs and moused over the rating stars. The review breakdown showed only 4- and 5-star ratings, which was odd since I knew I gave it 3. I read through all 38 reviews and did not find mine anywhere. "Okay," I thought, "maybe I imagined writing that review." I gave it three stars, typed up a quick review, and submitted it using my email address. It was rejected, saying I had already reviewed it.
Anyone else have experience with reviews on the HF website disappearing? I feel like 3 out of 5 stars is not a terrible rating and certainly not worth suppressing. Nor did my writeup recommend no one buy it, just that it wasn't suitable for my kind of work and that one should make sure the emitter is actually centered in the reflector (I noticed more than a few were not).
