It looks like Harbor Freight is digging back into Greek mythology to name yet another line of tools. This time it's the titan Atlas who gets his name emblazoned on Chinese plastic as HF introduces their 80v outdoor tool brand. I say "introduces". Really it just appeared ex nihilo (to mix my ancient cultures slightly) in the February catalog. If HF sticks to its usual gameplan, the tools won't be available for the better part of a year after appearing in a catalog.
The 80v lawnmower looks interesting. I had wondered how long it would be before Harbor Freight sold mowers, though my money would have been on a Predator-branded example. I wonder what this means for Lynxx and the other outdoor tools. The battery platforms are different, obviously, but I can't help but feel the blower and weed whacker are overlapping with each other. A snowblower would be a more logical choice to introduce alongside a mower. Though I am typically skeptical of electric snowblowers, I think an 80v system might have enough power to do a very short driveway as the snow begins to accumulate and, depending on how fast the batteries charge, get back to it as the white stuff continues.
(I guess Harbor Freight has incorporated more Roman mythology in their names than I thought with their Jupiter and Vulcan lines.)
