Well a couple vehicles etc needed oil changed so all get done at one time.
The better halfs car was nothing special but it does need an axle seal replaced as it's weeping a little. It's a PT Cruiser with a stick... Horrible gas mileage and not fun to drive and those Daimler designed engines in them mean they drink oil like a Merc.
Daughters car hasn't had an oil change in who knows how long... It's a Nissan Versa hatchback and she said it hasn't been changed since Nissan put a new transmission in it. She thought they changed the oil when they did it. That's been 6+ months and she drives allot.
So I drained the oil and pulled the filter.... I got maybe a quart of oil out of it. I asked her when was the last time she checked the oil.... That ended up a futile question and went nowhere and now she claims she doesn't even know how to open the hood which she has been taught several times how to check oil etc...
She is trying to buy a house and I told her she almost ended up buying a new car as well. The car had 60K last year when Nissan replaced the transmission and I told her to be ready to buy a new car as I doubt it will last another 40K as many of the units that Nissan replaces last as little as a few 100 miles and most 20-40k. The CVT in them is horrendus.
I really see a need these days for full service gas stations where they check oil etc because this generation can't even use Google without help.... She is old enough to learn from her mistakes and they may be expensive but it's the only thing that works with her.
