Ok y'all, I have a JD Gentron 8000w gennie. I picked it up at an auction still in the crate. I was bamboozled. The generator was recrated and the reason was clear as to why. The hour meter had 4 hours on it and it won't turn over. It had no oil. and when I tipped the machine up I could hear metal rattling around in the crank case. Some people should read the instructions. Now to my question. Can I use a Predator 420cc to replace the Chinese 420cc? The engine looks like your typical Honda knockoff. My concern lies in the output shaft. It seems that some gennies use a tapered shaft. The Predators do not have this feature so far as I can tell. Has anyone here ever done an engine swap on a generator? The Manufacturer's website list all the parts to repair it but they don't sell a whole engine any longer. Worst case scenario seems to be over $600 in parts and that is only if the inside of the motor is not shredded. The Predator is just over half that cost. I just don't know what to do. Suggestions?
